Chris Dawson Husband in podcast- notorious case shamefaced of murder

An Australian man who came the subject of a popular crime podcast has been set up shamefaced of his woman cold case murder.

Chris Dawson's trial in a Sydney court followed decades of enterprise about the 1982 exposure of his woman, Lynette.

Her body has noway been set up and all the substantiation was particular.

Dawson was charged in 2018 after the podcast garnered global attention and urged a renewed disquisition.

The 74- time-old denies killing Mrs Dawson, maintaining she had abandoned him and their two children- conceivably to join a religious group.

When handing down his verdict on Tuesday, Justice Ian Harrison said the substantiation against Dawson was" conclusive and compelling".

The judge set up Dawson was obsessed with his teenage sitter, who's known as JC for legal reasons, and wanted her as a" relief" for his woman

Dawson had come decreasingly hopeless as former plans to leave his marriage failed and JC wanted to end their relationship, Justice Harrison said.

"I am satisfied that the prospect that he'd lose( JC) so worried, frustrated, and eventually overwhelmed him that. Mr Dawson resolved to kill his woman

he told the New South Wales Supreme Court.

Mrs Dawson's family said the court had verified what his family had known for times.

" She loved her family and noway left them of her own accord. rather her trust was betrayed by a man she loved," an emotional Greg Simms toldreporters.Tears from Lynette Dawson's family

Ashen and dazed. Chris Dawson appeared to be in shock as he stepped into a lift on the 13th bottom of the court with his aged family, Peter, and his counsel during a break in the judge's reflections.

I stood an arm's length down from a man who a couple of hours latterly would come a condemned killer.

After 40 times, the riddle and tragedy of Lynette Dawson's exposure have eventually been answered.

The judge demolished her hubby's defence, labelling crucial corridor' absurd' and' fantastic '

There were gasps from his family members when the shamefaced verdict was ultimately handed down. There were gashes from Lynette Dawson's cousins who sat still hard.

The former schoolteacher was led down in bind, shaking his head. Justice Harrison's lengthy verdict has eventually exposed his falsehoods and dishonesty.

The case shot to global elevation when it was delved by intelligencer Hedley Thomas in podcast The schoolteacher's Pet.

The series won Australian journalism's loftiest honour and has been downloaded more than 60 million times, beating maps around the world.

The podcast and its impact were crucial issues in the trial, with Justice Harrison criticising its" lower than balanced view" on the case and ruling it had affected the substantiation of some substantiations.

The case was originally delayed due to hype the podcast created, and Dawson's attorneys tried to halt it altogether, arguing the series had defiled his shot at a fair trial.

Dawson was rather granted a trial before a single judge, rather than jury.

Victim' idolised her children'

Lynette Dawson, a 33- time-old mama of two, faded from her Sydney home in January 1982. Police have noway set up any trace of her.

Two separate studies into her exposure concluded that she was killed by a" given person".

But until the podcast explored the case, prosecutors had said there wasn't enough substantiation to laycharges.Dawson has maintained his woman

Telephoned him one weekend in January 1982 and said she demanded time down. He said he also entered several calls from her latterly.

His defence platoon refocused to contended sightings by five people after Mrs Dawson was reported missing as substantiation she could have been alive after January 1982.

But prosecutors argued Dawson was driven to murder after his failed plots to leave the marriage which they said included meaning hiring a hitman, and a baffled move to Queensland to start a new life with JC.

Justice Harrison rejected the claim about the hitman and allegations Dawson had been physically vituperative towards his woman

But he did note that Mrs Dawson" idolised her children and her hubby" and all her effects remained at her home.

"Indeed her contact lenses were set up. in a blue vessel when delivered by Mr Dawson with her things," he said.

None of Mrs Dawson's musketeers and family have heard from her since she faded.

Considering the particular substantiation as a whole, Justice Harrison said he was" left with no mistrustfulness" that Dawson had indeed killed his woman and disposed of her body.
