after joining from Basel in 2018Manchester City strengthened their injury- hit defence on Thursday by subscribing Swiss transnational Manuel Akanji on a five- time deal from Borussia Dortmund.
Akanji will give the Premier League titleholders with redundant protective depth after recent injuries to centre- tails Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake.
"I'm pleased to be then, and can not stay to get started," Akanji, who bring City a reported 17 million pounds($19.7 million) told the club's website.
"City have been one of the stylish brigades in Europe over the last many seasons. They're brilliant to watch, play an instigative brand of football and contend for glories time in, time out, so coming then feels like the perfect coming step in my career."
The 27- time-old spent four- and-a-half seasons with Dortmund after joining from Basel in 2018.
Akanji is City's fifth summer signing after former Dortmund platoon- mate Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips, Sergio Gomez and Stefan Ortega Moreno.
Both Akanji and Haaland could face their former club on September 14, with Dortmund due to play City at the Etihad Stadium in the titleholders League group stage.
